Exposure to an audience is an essential part of a young artist’s training. The École Normale de Musique de Paris gives students preparing a Diplôme Supérieur frequent opportunities to play in performance settings.
One of the venues where a student can expect to perform is the Salle Cortot (Cortot concert hall).
At the Salle Cortot, you may expect to see the following types of performances:
The « Concerts de Midi & Demi »
Since their debut in 1981, the « Concerts Midi & Demi » are an important part of the École’s student-performance culture.
More than 50 Concerts Midi & Demi are given each year in the Salle Cortot by the students in advanced levels.
These concerts take place Tuesdays and Thursdays, and occasionally Wednesdays, between October and April except during school holidays.
Entrance is open and free for the public.
For the 2013-2014 school year, some Concerts de Midi & Demi are organized in partnership with PIANISTE Magazine who records the performances and later distributes them along with their magazine.
Extract of the Chopin recital of pianist Guillaume MASSON (Diplôme Supérieur de Concertiste 2013, prof. R. Shereshevskaia).
Eligibility to play at one of the Concerts de Midi & Demi is reserved for students enrolled in Diplôme Supérieur de Concertiste (current or graduate), Diplôme Supérieur d’Exécution or Diplôme Supérieur de Musique de Chambre.
See programs of Concerts de Midi & Demi in the event calendar.
